The episode continues the battle between Battler and Beatrice, with the events on the island having a special focus on Eva Ushiromiya. Beatrice's past is also introduced, and several more fantasy characters are added to the cast. Unlike in the first two episodes, the adults make a serious attempt to solve the epitaph. New character pages are linked as the characters' profiles are first given in the story, not when they are first mentioned by others or appear unnamed. Short meta-layer sections ar

THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Is it just me or does the Golden Land remind me of a sanctuary? And regarding the rap, it was kinda surprising imo because of how Beatrice was acting. Shame witches can't seem to have a change of heart..

Umineko parallels 8 Banquet has many scenes that parallel what happened in Prime but their order is a little messed up. In addition to this, for once, it mixes the Meta storiline with the Gameboard one, making it look like it was Meta Beatrice and not her Piece self (illusionary or not) the one who moves on the gameboard and even having Meta Beatrice playing a script ‘to trick’ Battler. We start with Battler rembering his feelings for Sayo and accepting he came back too late to have her back… though here he does so apparently more smoothly than in Prime. We’ve then the adults trying to solve the epitaph as in Prime and someone solving it, Eva. It’s interesting how, even in Prime where everyone was there when the door to the Golden Land was opened, it was Eva always that opened it. We’ve a hint of a quarrel between siblings, with Eva and Rosa pointing their guns at each other as they’ll do in Prime. Here though they’ll manage to find a temporal agreement. In Prime they won’t get the chance. We’ve Eva receiving the ring. In Prime she’ll get it in a very different set of circumstances but she’ll still get it. We’re told that the whole thing wasn’t following anymore Beatrice’s plan… which can be viewed as a reference to how the true culprit in Prime was Kyrie. Maria will make the expenses of this situation. In Sayo’s plan she was supposed to rest in peace and not be desecrated (Sayo wanted to kill her by poison or wait for the explosion) but in Ep 3 she g...

Hum, originally this was something I planned to discuss in deep in Ep 4, when and if I will ever manage to reach it, but since someone asked about it I preferred to put it here. Usually, the common interpretation for the scene in Ep 4 in which Beatrice tries to have Battler remember which is his sin, is that Meta Beatrice wanted for Battler to acknowledge her motive, to acknowledge he had hurt her, to push the blame for the tragedy on him, that the more he’s not remembering his promise, the more he’s hurting her so, when he insists he can’t remember and he seems dismissive of the whole matter, she basically retaliates by hurting him, first by telling him he’s to blame for what had happened, then by denying his identity by attacking the tie he loves the most, the one he had with his mother. In short, she’s basically taking her revenge on him, retaliating for the way he hurt her. However, after reading Ep 8 chap 37 we discovered that, in Prime, ‘Beatrice’ realized that blaming Battler would have been an excuse and took full responsibility for having caused the tragedy (a thing she also does in Ep 8 chap 25 manga version in front of Ange) going so far as to encourage him to kill her… … and that ‘Beatrice’ is aware that, despite this, instead than taking it out on her, Battler acknowledged her pain, didn’t blame her, felt guilty he couldn’t help her, understood she was trying to help him at the moment, thanked her, took responsibility for what Beatrice did and v...
